On 13 March, the official opening of photo exhibition “AMINA: LIFE” took place, hosted by the Sejm of the Republic of Poland. The exhibition was dedicated to Ms.Amina Okueva, who lost her life in an assassination attempt on 30 October 2017, sacrificing it to Ukraine’s struggle against the Russian aggression. The event was initiated by Amina’s mother, journalist Iryna Kaminska, who herself is of Polish background, and supported by Deputy Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland Mr.Ryszard Terlecki, Polish MP Ms.Małgorzata Gosiewska, and Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland Mr. Andrii Deshchytsia.

Dnipro Imam Edgar Devlikamov, who performed the burial procedures at the time, addressed the audience and journalists with some words on Ms.Okueva’s activities, having noted that she had been a role model for Ukrainian Muslims, never afraid to stand against injustice, occupation and oppression, and risked her own life standing for integrity, independence and freedom of Ukraine that became her second Homeland. The bullets couldn’t hurt her on the frontline, but she wasn’t immune to them in the rear, when a killer ambushed them.

The exhibition at the House of Sejm will last until Saturday, 16 March; in future, they are planning to hold it during PACE hearings, as well as NATO Parliamentary Assembly. Noteworthy, photo exhibition “AMINA: LIFE” was held earlier in Ukrainskii Dim in Kyiv, at the Ukrainian Parliament, and then travelled the Ukrainian cities.
